Specialist Deafblind Worker managing our Essex & South London.

Amanda is DBE’s Specialist Deafblind Worker managing services in our Essex / South London region. Amanda started at DBE in 2016, as a Communicator-Guide using her BSL 2 / deafblind manual skills to support a deafblind couple living in Essex as well as many deafblind people on an ad hoc basis for medical appointments. Now, highly trained as a Specialist Assessor, using her social work skills/expertise and knowledge, Amanda is able to promote an enablement focus throughout her role, addressing deafblind people’s needs. Amanda discusses services in the area with various professionals in social care and health, voluntary agencies. this enables DBE to gain more referrals for our medical scheme funded by Health and 1:1 regular support direct payment, ISF and self-funded contracts. By managing our team of highly motivated and experienced Communicator-Guides ensuring a team approach, Amanda continues to have time to create deafblind awareness wherever she goes, with her huge smile, enthusiastic laughter and sense of humour!
