This is Thomas (10 years old) one of our young learners.
Thomas' mum started working at DBE September last year. When his mum was in her Signature Deafblind communication guide course level 2 Thomas took a keen interest in learning how to communicate with deafblind people too. Thomas and our service users love that he and our deafblind adults can communicate so well. Thomas enjoys acting, reading and joining us at our monthly bowling trips. For Deafblind awareness week, Thomas has put together a short video to show you that anyone no matter who and what age can learn to communicate with deafblind people.
DBE are very proud of you Thomas
Exciting DBE's 3-day Christmas break in Birmingham took place this week... 16 deafblind people and their Communicator-Guides from Peterborough, Essex, Coventry stayed in Lickey and Jamie, Brian and Phil spent time joining in the fun with us. We enjoyed Pizza Hut in Solihull, Cadbury World, afternoon tea, Stratford Christmas Market, with a few fitting in a quick swim. Plenty of chatting, games and fun with all qualified Com-guides supporting deafblind people on a rota system to avoid isolation and refresh their skills. Massive thanks to DBE's Communicator-Guides for all their dedication, hard work and laughter! It was such a fun time, our next DBE 3-day trip will be in April/May 2024, come and join us.
Happy Christmas everyone!

Congratulations to Coventry Health and Social Care workers, all qualified in Signature Deaf Level 2 Communication and Guiding... now onto the Signature Level 3 Specialist Assessment qualifications to become Care Act 2014 compliant with DBE's expertise, in-depth learning with lots of practical exercises and external assessments... and lots and lots of fun! 😁

DBE's 9th Rally was a great fun filled success! With over 60 people getting together to catch up with old friends, develop friendships and learn new ways to communicate.
Debbie's 40 years working in the field of deafblindness was celebrated too.
Debbie has recieved an excellent piece of feedback from the "Specialist Deafblind Assessment and Service Provision" course she delivered for Birmingham City University Rehabilitation School as a University Lecturer.
I would recommend that you ask Debbie as she is the absolute expert on all things Deafblind
The course delivered is a level 6 degree course and the highest qualification you can achieve in the field of Deafblindness.

Congratulations to Courtney and Sam for completing the Signature Level 2 Communicator-Guide Course with us in Peterborough! 🎉🎉
Best of luck for your practical assessments today! 😁

Celebration day - congratulations to our students who have assisted DBE with their pilot Signature Level 3 Visual Frame Hands On qualification. Wonderful proactive team of deafblind specialists, the first of many DBE's Level 3 VFHO Trainee Interpreters.
Great work - well done!

Woo hoo... DBE's 1st Short break took place this week in Weymouth, 24 of us having so much fun and laughter. Big thank you to everyone involved... lots of memories and new friendships made!! Roll on the next one!
